GMDI-CAP system

At the core of GMDI will be the data collection and processing (CAP) system which provides a scalable central solution for handling CML data from a large number of data providers.

Scalable centralized solution

There is no longer any need to reinvent the wheel for each new collaboration with data providers. Additional data streams can easily be added into the GMDI-CAP system. It is built to scale using cutting-edge database and web technologies.

Low barrier for data providers

Data providers do not want to adapt their data workflows. We adapt to them. The GMDI-CAP system allows different ways of uploading data and connecting data streams. Data providers can upload via SFTP, HTTPS or even archived data with drag-and-drop. Further interfaces, e.g. Kafka, will be added as needed.

Real-time rainfall products

Built on the expertise of the research community and the collection of open-source processing tools from OpenSense, the GMDI-CAP system provides real-time rainfall products from CML data. Integration and combination with traditional rainfall sensor data from radar and satellites will be added in the future to provide further improved rainfall information.

Long-term data analytics

We keep an archive of all data to allow reprocessing with improved methods for rainfall retrieval in the future. This enables the GMDI-CAP system to provide detailed long-term analytics of CML data in combination with rainfall information. For data providers, this makes it possible to spot problematic microwave links and potential for optimizing network planning.

Real-Time Data — GMDI Platform

Note: Recently in pilot studies we display only RSL data layer . Rainfall data for end users will follow.

The GMDI Platform currently displays:

pw: openmrg

  • historical RSL data from Cameroun

user: demo_orange_cameroun
pw: orange

  • online RSL data from Czech Republic in 1 minute resolution
